What’s the difference between a Coalition Member and an Artist Member?

Interested in joining the Plattsburgh Arts Coalition, but not sure which type of membership is the right fit for you? Above is a general breakdown of the differences between Coalition Member and Artist Member. Below is a more detailed breakdown.

Artist Members

Artist members can join the coalition with a sliding scale fee of pay-what-you-can, with the encouraged amount being $25 to start. Artist members have the following privileges:

• A listing on our Artist Members page that includes a bio, picture, links to social media and websites, and sample portfolio of 3-5 images.

• Attendance to monthly meetings (which allows for input on events, volunteering, and opportunity to be further involved)

• Voting in annual elections

Coalition Members

To put it bluntly, Coalition Members are DOING THE WORK. An individual or business can join as a Coalition Member by paying a $100 fee. By becoming a Coalition Member, you may choose to become part of The Working Group. The Working Group is responsible for generating our 2022-2023 Coalition Action Plan and a Strategic Plan. *Not all Coalition Members will be in the Working Group. Coalition Members also earn a listing on the website.

Those who choose join the Working Group commit to the following:

• One full year of being an active, contributing member of the coalition.

• Attending planning meetings on a monthly, bi-weekly, or weekly basis as needed.

• Collaborating and communicating with other group members.

• Giving attention to the activities, vision, goals, objectives, and strategies that have been and/or will be decided by the Coalition.

Can you be a Coalition Member AND an Artist Member?

Yes! You can upgrade to a Coalition Member from Artist Member by paying the difference, or join as a Coalition Member and let us know you’d like to be listed as an Artist Member, too.

But if I’m an Artist Member, aren’t I a Coalition Member?

Almost! EVERYONE who joins, whether they’re an Artist Member or Coalition Member, is PART of the Coalition. But you must make the annual commitment and contribute resources if you want to specifically be a Coalition Member.
